CATHOLICS COME HOME is an invitation to non-practicing Catholics. If you are a Catholic who has been away from the Church for awhile and are thinking about returning, we welcome you home! Our Catholics Come Home six-week series began on Sunday, February 14, 2010, and is held at Immaculate Conception Parish in Sutter Creek. The series consists of informal listening sessions and an update of the Catholic faith, facilitated by lay persons of the combined Catholic parishes of Amador County Click here to download details about the series. (PDF FILE, 278 KB)
Catholics Come Home is also a national effort to bring Catholics back to their faith -- visit the Catholics Come Home website here and read about this exciting effort to reunite our brothers and sisters in Christ! On this website you can view the Catholics Come Home commercials that are now running on television and learn how so many "fallen away Catholics" have found their way back home.
In addition, the Diocese of Sacramento has launched its own website for returning Catholics to welcome them home and provide assistance. Visit http://welcomehomenorcal.com/ |

| ONLINE LENTEN REFLECTION SERIES. This discussion board will be the first in a series of Virtual Small Christian Community and Virtual Bible study discussion boards for the Amador Catholic Community. The purpose of these discussion boards is to bring reflections and bible studies to everyone, regardless of your schedule and availability.
Stay-at-home moms and dads can post thoughts during the day between loads of laundry, work-at-homes can post between e-mails, and working folks can post thoughts in the evening. In this way, we can all come together through our thoughts and faith regardless of our lifestyles. THE EASTER TRIDUUM. The Amador Catholic Community will again celebrate the Church's solemn commemoration of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ - The Sacred Triduum. The days of Holy Week make it possible for us, who are so easily distracted by the world, to concentrate with our entire being on the events which assured us of God's inestimable love, and which made possible our salvation. Each member parish of the Amador Catholic Community looks forward to hosting one evening of Triduum and invites everyone to join in the celebration (all times to be announced):
April 1 - Holy Thursday
Mass of the Lord's Supper - Sacred Heart Church, Ione
April 2 - Good Friday
Liturgical Service - Immaculate Conception Church, Sutter Creek
April 3 - Holy Saturday
Easter Vigil Mass - St. Patrick Church, Jackson
|
| A common location was not available or affordable this year, thus the decision to celebrate at each parish center. This affords us a unique opportunity to worship together and visit the church in our Catholic community that we do not usually attend. |

| “BREAK BREAD WITH FRIENDS” is a home grown interfaith effort to feed the hungry and homeless by providing a breakfast and bag lunch to those in need every Saturday morning at the Jackson United Methodist Church. Volunteers are needed to serve one Saturday a month for approximately 2-3 hours. We also need volunteers to staff the various committees such as finance, communications, menu/shopping, scheduling, and to bake cookies and other baked goods to be included in the sack lunches. If you can help or are interested in learning more about the project, contact Joe Lang at 296-3154, or email Marci Russell at mrussell@stpatparish.org. |
| SOS (SAVE OUR SHELTER). St. Patrick Parish has a new ministry called SOS to assist parishioners who are struggling with high mortgage payments and who may be in danger of losing their homes as a result. For more information, call Joe Lang at 296-3154. |

CHANGES TO THE ROMAN MISSAL ON THE HORIZON. New translations of the Roman Missal are coming in late 2010 or 2011. The people's parts at Mass will change when the Holy See approves the new translation. The USCCB voted to approve the final sections of the English translation during the November 17 session of the Fall General Assembly; it now goes to the Vatican for approval, expected sometime in 2010. Implementation at the parish level will commence about a year following Vatican approval. Click here for a preview of the changes. |
