Youth Group 2009-10
The 2009-10 St. Patrick Parish Youth Group

THANK YOU TO OUR ANONYMOUS DONOR!!

The St. Patrick Parish High School Youth Group would like to say Thank You to our Anonymous Donor!  At Christmas we received a card written with many kind words and a cash donation of $650.  Our donor has supported our efforts to sponsor our child, Raymond Mujar, from the Philippines.  Through Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, we sponsor Raymond to assist with food, education, medical care, and clothing.  We have also developed a relationship with Raymond and communicate with him several times a year by letter.  Our group recently sent him a Christmas package and a package for his birthday.  We are grateful and very appreciative to our Anonymous Donor!

YOUTH GROUP NEWS
March-April 2010

Youth Group met for breakfast on February 17 at the Waffle Shop.  Twenty teens showed up for breakfast.  Afterwards, we all attended the 8 AM Ash Wednesday Mass.

Our February meeting featured Deacon Jaime Garcia and his son, Adam.  The topic was Justice and Service.  Deacon Garcia talked about the aspects of Justice and Service:  to respond to injustice through direct service or actions of social change -- locally or globally.  Adam showed a DVD entitled "The Story of Stuff" that focused on caring for our earth and discussed what we can do personally to help make our planet a more environmentally safe place to live.

Our March meeting will be held on Sunday, March 21.  An introduction to the Teen Bible Study program will be discussed and presented.  Another letter has arrived from our child in the Philippines, Raymond.  The letter will be read, and we will again be writing letters to send to Raymond.

Youth Group hosts the Soup Supper on Friday, March 26, at the Parish Hall at St. Patrick.  Our group will gather on Thursday, March 25, to buy ingredients and to prepare the soup.

Youth Group will meet in April on Sunday the 18th.  This meeting will be extended to 3 PM to accommodate our presenters, Joan Nikolai and Bob Strazzo.

THE HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP'S MISSION STATEMENT

St Patrick Parish recognizes that "Youth Ministry is the response of the Christian community to the needs of young people, and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with the larger community." *

St Patrick Parish seeks to incorporate the goals, themes and components of a comprehensive youth ministry program as detailed in Renewing the Vision: A Framework For Catholic Youth Ministry, 1997, United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

* A QUOTE FROM: A VISION OF YOUTH MINISTRY, 1976, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION OF THE UNITED STATES CATHOLIC CONFERENCE, PAGE 6.

My son, eat thou honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste. So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off. --  PROVERBS 24:13-14
